About Me

Hi! My name is Kaitlyn Pike. I am a second year biopsychology major, and I’m hoping to earn a minor in French! I grew up in Georgia until I was 14 when I moved to Michigan for my parents’ jobs. I didn’t like the cold much, or being so landlocked, so I decided California was the best place for me. After being recruited here for lacrosse, I finally made the trip out and fell in love! If I’m not studying, you can probably find me on the lacrosse field. I’ve been playing lacrosse since my sophomore year of high school, and haven’t stopped since. I won the state championship my first year playing, and hope to finish my lacrosse career by winning a national championship here at UCSB! Some other things I love to do in my free time are going to music festivals, playing guitar, and cooking. I’m also really passionate about politics and social issues. I love talking about current affairs and make a serious effort to stay educated and up to date on everything that is happening in the world. I try to see a lot of the issues from every different angle, because I’m really interested in understanding people and how they think. This interest also carries over into my academic and future career path as I hope to eventually get my Doctor of Psychology in clinical psychology. I’m mostly interested in mental illnesses, and how they affect a person in all aspects of their life. I’d love to be able to research people who do crazy things like cannibals, people in cults, people that lead cults, serial killers, and other social outcasts. Essentially, I’m interested in what makes them, them. I find the recent trend of mass shooters interesting from a clinical aspect as well, and hope to one day become a part of the research that leads to a better understanding of why these events are happening on an individual and a societal level.
